About me
I worked as a bookshop manager whilst completing a three year Bachelor of Teaching (Primary Teaching) at Deakin University in 1994. Keen to secure full time employment at a time of school closures and amalgamations I continued working in the book trade with the aim of returning to teaching within a few years.
My job at Angus and Robertson led to work in customer service with an educational publisher (Longman Australia) and then to Australia Post to work on the Bookabout project.

With the tag line ‘hand-picked for kids’ the aim of Bookabout was to support literacy development by making a range of high quality children’s books available for sale through Australia Post outlets nationwide. Books were chosen by a panel of literacy experts and organised into four developmental categories for easy selection for parents.
Whilst Australia Post continues to retail children’s books the Bookabout project was discontinued after several years. I stayed with Australia Post working in various marketing roles for nearly ten years until the birth of my first child.
A stay at home mum for six years, my daughter is now in grade one and my son in four year old kinder. Still passionate about the idea of a career in Primary Teaching I recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Primary Teaching at Monash University (Peninsula Campus).
Both my daughter and I love school!
